The Epistle of Daniel

Now I, Daniel, being born of goodly parents, and also knowing much concerning the ways of the Lord, do proceed to make an account of a few of my doings in my days. And it came to pass on the fifteenth day of the second month, in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and ninety, that I was found in my classroom at school. Now, before I did enter therein, I did obtain unto myself a pouch full of sweet pebbles, for behold they are desirable to be had in the mouth. And as I sat in my class, I did eat of the pebbles, and behold, my teacher said unto me, Come thou hence!

And I came and inquired, What dost thou want of me? And she said, Behold, the thing which doth abide in thy mouth, bring it forth, that I may behold it. And when I had brought it forth, she spake with a loud voice, saying, Behold a Skittle! Thou hast a Skittle in thy mouth! Cast it out, and deliver up the remainder unto me. And I cast it out, and said, Behold, thou speakest of a remainder; behold I know not of that which thou speakest. And she became wroth, and said, Thou knowest plainly of that which I speak! I command thee, deliver them up!

And I delivered them up unto her, and said, Shall they, at some future period, be restored unto me? But she spake again, saying, Nay, but I shall hide them away up unto mine own self, and thou shalt never behold them again. And now, what is this thing which thou hast done? For behold, have I not spake unto you, saying, eat not in my class, for behold, the day that thou eatest therein, thou shalt surely receive a detention? And now, because of this thing which thou hast done, thou shalt be cast into detention, yea, on the morrow thou shalt labor one hour in detention, and this because of thy transgression. And then she did send me away unto mine own place in the classroom.

And when I had returned, I did begin to converse with Shawn, he who did sit near unto me. And behold, my teacher did say unto me again, Come thou hence! And I came, and she said unto me, Behold thou conversest with Shawn, and disruptest my class. And now, thou knowest that this thing is forbidden. And now, because of this thy second transgression, thou shalt labor two days in detention.

And on the morrow I arose and went in unto detention, but behold I labored not, but I did make markings of a curious nature upon my paper, and withheld my labor. And when my teacher had discovered this, she was more wroth, and spake again in a loud voice, saying, Thou fiend! Thou laborest not, but dost work that which is grievous.

And it came to pass that I was summoned in unto the principle’s office, and he inquired of me, saying, Be this thy work? And I said, Yea. And he said, Knowest thou not that thou art required to labor whilst thou art in detention? And now, for yet another day shalt thou labor in detention, and behold, thou shalt surely labor, for if thou laborest not, thou shalt be cast into ISSC to dwell Mr. Lilly and his angels, and there shall be weeping and wailing and knashing of teeth.

And now, all this tribulation has come upon me, Daniel, because I desired something sweet in my mouth, and I am cursed with these afflictions.

About Me

Okay, now for an "About Me" post. My name is Dan McIntyre. I'm 35 years old, married with three kids. I live in Murray, Utah. I am a college graduate, working as an IT analyst.

I am a computer programmer, albeit a somewhat junior level one. Hence, I only pull down $45K a year. Still, not bad for just an Associate degree from the local community college (Salt Lake Community College, major was CIS, or Computer Information Systems). If you're one of the many people trudging through SLCC without a definite degree goal in mind, you might want to check out CIS or CS. As far as I know, there's no other Associate degree that gives you so much bang for your buck.

I like computers, electronics, and coin collecting (although I haven't actively collected in many years). In particular, I like HD -- Blu-ray, Plasma/LCD TVs. I have two HD TVs, a 42" plasma and a 36" CRT. I have a rapidly-expanding collection of Blu-ray discs.

My First Blog Post

Well, I'm brand-new to the blogging thing, which is somewhat ironic since I am an information technology professional. In fact, if not for my wife, Tylaine, I probably wouldn't be blogging even now. At this point, I envision my blog to be a completely narcissistic rambling of all stuff ME -- that is the point of blogs after all, right?? :)

I think the blogging thing is something I'll really enjoy once I get going with it. As I mentioned, I'm in the Information Technology field, and I'm also a halfway-decent writer, so this should be fun.
